Welcome to the website for the 2008 Australian Junior Chess Championships.
The tournament will be held from the 13th January until the 25th January 2008 at Cranbrook School in Sydney's Bellevue Hill.
Entry is limited to players aged 17 and under as of 31/12/2007 (participants born on or after 01/01/1990).

Lightning Results Up!
The results of today's lightning championships are now available under the "Standings" link. Congratulations to Junta Ikeda and Alexander Stahnke for winning the Under 18 and Under 12 divisions with perfect scores (11/11).
Games from round 8 will be available later in the night (round 9 for the Girls U18 division).

Games from rounds 1 to 4 will be uploaded for your viewing pleasure later tonight and soft copies of bulletins 1, 2 and 3 have been added (bulletin 0 will be up soon too).

Round 4 Pairings Up
The draw for round 4 is now up. You will also find results from round 3 and current standings for all four tournaments on the relevant pages. Games for round 3 are being processed right now and will be posted tomorrow night. This is because not all games have been entered yet.
There have been some problems accessing the draw for each round. This may be due to a cache issue. To resolve this, try 'refreshing from server' by pressing ctrl+F5 on the page which you think is old and outdated.

Internet Problems
We are currently experiencing difficulties accessing the Internet from Cranbrook. This has caused problems with uploading the draws for the next day. We are endevouring to fix the problem as soon as possible.
Entries Update
We have reached 100 total entries for the four tournaments!
Entries received between now and the 7th January will incur a slightly higher fee than before. Entries received on January 8 or later will incur the highest entry fee, so make sure your entry is sent with plenty of time to spare!
Please ensure your names are spelt correctly on the website's players list! Email me if there are any errors!
Venue Map
A basic map displaying the layout of Cranbrook Senior School has now been added to the site (see "Details" section).
Please pay particular attention to the notes on where you can park your car.
Unfortunately, this year we are unable to use Cranbrook's main field or swimming pool. We do, however, have permission to use their basketball courts.
Player Lists
Player lists are now appearing on the site. Please check the "Players" section for a list of players currently entered in the four main divisions.
Endorsement of Player Entries
New details regarding the endorsement of entries for the tournament have been added in the "Details" section.
Under 18 Open Division to be FIDE rated
The Under 18 Open Division will be FIDE rated. This is an excellent chance to gain an international rating!
Time Limits
The tournament time limits have now been added to the website (see "Details").

Please be advised that this is the OFFICIAL WEBSITE. One draft website was leaked prior to this and information on that site was incorrect. The entry form located on this site has the correct details and correct entry fees.

Nick Chernih is unable to fulfil his role as assistant arbiter for the tournament. Brian Allison has been chosen as a suitable replacement.
