Schools Chess Challenge
Description

The Schools Chess Challenge has not been held since 2007

The NSWJCL's Schools Chess Challenge is an annual tournament for schools teams. It is held in two divisions - for Primary Schools and Secondary Schools. One of the purposes of the event is to raise money to help support NSW players who are this year representing Australia in overseas tournaments such as this year's World Youth Championships in Turkey.

Schools are invited to send teams of three players and multiple teams from the one school will be accepted. The tournament attracts a large number of teams – over 600 players took part in 2002. Teams are of varying strengths and is therefore an ideal introduction for schools and players new to competitive chess. Inexperienced players are advised to read the Summary of Rules of Competitive Chess available on this website (see "Rules").

Full details and an entry form will be available on this website closer to the tournament (see "Entry Details") and will also be posted several weeks before the event to primary and secondary schools in the Sydney metropolitan and nearby areas.
