  • Draw only in pdf format designed for printing on a single two-sided sheet which may then be folded to A5 size as an insert for the competition booklets distributed to schools.

  • Draw & Results in spreadsheet format showing one division at a time.

Online Scoring System

  

The online scoring system has been developed for us by the Sydney Academy of Chess.

Entry of Players' Names:  Before players take part in the competition their names should be entered in the online scoring system so that their results can be recorded.

[16 May]:  A change has been made to the draw for Met East Senior Division SE4.

[10 May]:  Changes have been made to the draws for Met East Senior Division SE3 and Intermediate Divisions IE2 and IE3.

[5 May]:  Changes have been made to the draws for Met East Senior Division SE4, Intermediate Division IE2 and Junior Division JE5.

[5 May]:  Changes have been made to the draws for Met West Intermediate Division IW2 and Junior Division JW3.

[29 April]:  A change has been made to the draw for Met West Senior Division SW2.

[29 April]:  A change has been made to the draw for Met East Senior Division SE4.

[27 April]:  A change has been made to the draw for Met East Junior Division JE5.

[27 April]:  The competition material (booklets, etc.) has been posted to all schools (except those on the Central Coast where the competition will be held in one-day format later).

[26 April]:  A change has been made to the draw for Met East Senior Division SE3.

[26 April]:  The printable version of the draw ("Draw only") for Met North Region has been amended to correct the date of the first round in the Junior Grade pairing table.

[20 April]:  The draw for all four regions is now available except for the Central Coast, where the competition will be held in one-day format later in second term.

Rationale Behind the Draw

Within each grade, teams have been allocated to divisions based on:

•  school location (to minimise travel);

•  separation of teams from the same school into different divisions (unless travel would be excessive);

•  balancing into parallel divisions of approximately equal strength (assuming that most schools with multiple teams rank them with A as their strongest team, etc.);

•  other factors to help satisfy schools' requests and preferences, where possible.
