NEWCASTLE SPRING TOURNAMENT

(Incorporating the NSW Country Junior Championships - Northern Qualifier)

Eligibility:  All are welcome. (Entrants do not have to be members of the NSW Junior Chess League or the NSW Chess Association but are welcome to join)

Format:  All players play all rounds – you do not get knocked out! In each round you play someone on a similar score. 
The tournament will be held in two divisions (under 18 and Under 12:
Under 18 (includes anyone in secondary school in 2023)
Under 12 (includes anyone in primary school in 2023)
The tournament will also be used to select qualifiers for the NSW Country Junior Championships Finals (similar qualifying tournaments are being held in Orange and Wollongong). The Finals will be held  in Sydney on Sunday 11 December in two divisions, Under 18 and Under 12. The qualifiers must be under 18 or under 12 on the Finals day, 10 December.

Time Limit:  Chess clocks will be used, 15 minutes per player per game.

Venue:  Newcastle PCYC, Young Road, Broadmeadow.

Time:  Registration 9:30 a.m., play starts 10:00 a.m., finish by about 2:30 p.m.

Ratings:  Games will be rated by the NSW Junior Chess League.

Lunch:  Players may bring their own lunch and refreshments or purchase these at a canteen which will be available at the venue (other facilities are also available nearby).

Entry fee:  $5 for NSWJCL or PCYC members; $8 for non-members. Discounts are available for multiple entrants from the same family..
