NEWCASTLE FAMILY HANDICAP TOURNAMENT

(for the Nicholson Trophy)

Format:  This is a tournament the whole family could participate in. It is run by the Newcastle District Chess Association and is handicap tournament. This means that the 'stronger' player will have to take some material off the board before the game starts thus levelling the playing field.

Eligibility:  Adults and juniors (under 18) are welcome.

Time Limit:  15 minutes + 5 seconds/move

Venue:  Newcastle PCYC, Young Road, Broadmeadow.

Time:  Registration from 9.15 a.m., play starts 10 a.m., expected finish by 2.30 p.m.

Lunch:  Players may bring their own lunch and refreshments or purchase these at a canteen which will be available at the venue (other facilities are also available nearby).

Entry fee:  Adults $20, juniors (under 18) $10

Entries:  While you can just turn up and enter on the day, it helps the organization if you enter in advance (by email to david.absalom92@gmail.com).
