The NSW Junior Chess League provides the following coaching opportunities for its members: Holiday Coaching Clinics One-day coaching clinics in the autumn, winter and spring school holidays, catering for new and relatively inexperienced players (a) players who are unrated (usually because they have not yet played in a rated tournament); (b) players with NSWJCL ratings below 700 (players above this level would not derive as much benefit). For details see Coming Events (in the main menu on the home page). Advanced Training Squad Special group coaching for players who have demonstrated a high level of ability and motivation, with weekly sessions held in term time. For further details click HERE. Coaching at Australian Junior Championships The NSWJCL engages top level coaches to help NSW players prepare for their games at the Australian Junior Championships in January each year. Individual coaching takes place before each game and there is also the opportunity for analysis of games afterwards. For coaching at the 2024 Australian Junior Championships (to be held in Adelaide from 13 to 21 January 2024) please register your interest as soon as possible by emailing the following details to ajc.coaching@nswjcl.org.au – your name, date of birth, contact details (both phone number and email address) and also your parents' names (if you would prefer them to make arrangements for you). We expect a large number of NSW players to be competing in this event and it is therefore important that arrangements be made well in advance. In the past some of our players missed out on coaching because they applied too late. Sending an email (as suggested above) means you are registering your interest – it gives us an idea of who might want coaching at the AJC and enables us to make initial plans. We can then keep you informed and advise you when a firm decision is needed. For details of the 2024 Australian Junior Championships see HERE. |
