The NSW Junior Chess League provides the following coaching opportunities for its members: Holiday Coaching Clinics One-day coaching clinics in the autumn, winter and spring school holidays, catering for new and relatively inexperienced players (a) players who are unrated (usually because they have not yet played in a rated tournament); (b) players with NSWJCL ratings below 700 (players above this level would not derive as much benefit). For details see Coming Events (in the main menu on the home page). Advanced Training Squad Special group coaching for players who have demonstrated a high level of ability and motivation, with weekly sessions held in term time. For further details click HERE. Coaching at Australian Junior Championships The NSWJCL engages top-level coaches to help NSW players prepare for their games at this event. Individual coaching takes place before each game and there is also the opportunity for analysis of games afterwards.
2025 Australian Junior Championships For coaching please register your interest no later than Sunday 8 December by emailing the following details to ajc.coaching@nswjcl.org.au – player's name; – player's date of birth; – player's and parents' contact details (both phone number and email address); and – any medical conditions that we may need to know about. A large number of NSW players usually take part in the AJC and it is therefore important that arrangements for coaching be made well in advance. In the past some of our players missed out on coaching because they applied too late. Registering your interest (as suggested above) will give us an idea of who might want coaching at the AJC and will enable us to make initial plans. Shortly after the above deadline we shall send you further details and ask for a definite commitment and payment by early January. Cost of Coaching: As the Championships are held in divisions of different lengths the cost of coaching will depend on the number of days in the division in which the player is participating (3, 5 or 8 days). The daily rate has not yet been decided but, as a guide, last year's rate was $70. (The rate is low because the coaching is subsidised by the NSWJCL.)
